I am a big fan of [personal profile] qian, who writes mostly SFF (postcolonial SFF? IDK, but it's all great). I think I'd recommend 起狮，行礼 (Rising Lion -- The Lion Bows) as a starting point, but she's a very flexible writer and her stories vary a lot. Publication list here.
