In the interest of networking and introducing my two very shy friends to the greater community of DW, I've written little summaries of their works and suggested reading for both of them. I believe networking among writers is an immensely important thing, and as such I'd like to expand those introductions beyond my journal and on to here.

First off: [personal profile] breezeshadow, who I introduce here, writes unconventional fantasy. She's got a distinct narrative voice and a great sense of humor.

Secondly: [personal profile] raze, who I introduce here, uses her vast knowledge of animal behavior, the harsh facts of life, and mythology to create a world that is both brutal and engrossing. Her depictions of therianthropes are by far the best I have ever encountered.

Would you care to introduce yourself or your favorite DW authors? Perhaps you could point us to your favorite of their (or your own) works. I'm always looking to broaden my reading circle and would certainly appreciate meeting fellow artists.

Thanks SMW for the introductions! And hello to Breezeshadow and Raze.

I do love your narrative voice, Breezeshadow - I love the very realness of the casual conversational tone that gives such a clear sense of your character's personality.

Raze, wow I commend your amazing formation of a very unique world. I can slip in so naturally, convinced that it's absolute.

I hope to see more from all three of you!

Wow, some great work there - and a very good idea, yes; networking is invaluable.

Oddly, however - possibly because I've not been here that long, and mainly been using DW as a place to waffle interminably instead of hunt out new things - I have yet to meet a huge range of authors on here.

Of our members, though, I would definitely plug [personal profile] aithne (link to her original fiction on her journal), and I know that both [personal profile] scarylady and [personal profile] rhiyah have both recently had their first stories published (yay them), though I don't believe either has much up on their journals to share. I will do some not-so-surreptitious prodding, perhaps. ;)

As for me... I write various different genres under various different names, though the very brave can see the amalgamated me on my journal, because I'm lousy at keeping all my boxes separate.

Broadly, I do horror, speculative fiction, mystery, fantasy, sci-fi, romance/romantic drama and erotica, but usually not all at once. In between the fanfic and other mess that lives on my journal (actually quite indicative of my style generally, but probably doesn't make much sense if you haven't played Dragon Age), I have started posting some of my poetry, and there are two horror shorts here and here. You can find excerpts of most of the smut romance/erotica on this site and the non-smut lives here. For those who might feel particularly brave, I'll be posting bits of WIPs to my journal, starting in the next few weeks, access list only.

Heh heh... yes, I know that feeling. Sooner science brings us the 48hr day, the better. ;)

Oh, my. You'll have me blushing at this rate.

To anyone who pokes around my journal and likes what they see: feel free to prod me for a higher level of access. The lion's share of my content is hidden in a filter that I'd be happy to broaden in pursuit of more readers and thus more helpful concrit.

I am a big fan of [personal profile] qian, who writes mostly SFF (postcolonial SFF? IDK, but it's all great). I think I'd recommend 起狮,行礼 (Rising Lion -- The Lion Bows) as a starting point, but she's a very flexible writer and her stories vary a lot. Publication list here.

Cool idea!

I'm kind of crazy about [personal profile] aldersprig's work. She writes the dark-fantasy-sometimes-with-smut serial Addergoole, and posts a lot of other fiction on her journal, including a world where magic is controlled by strands (like string theory with magic), an alternative USA in which California is its own country with women in charge and legalized slavery, and one in which all kinds of mythological creatures live side-by-side. It sounds a little weird but it's awesome.

I've also read a couple of [personal profile] analect's stories and loved them!

I hesitate to plug or describe my own writing, but I can link to my landing page, and mention that I write mostly fantasy: http://clare-dragonfly.dreamwidth.org/22238.html

Gah! I realised I'd forgotten to add your name just after I logged off. *facepalm*

Haven't had time to read too much yet, but I highly recommend The Bookstore!

(And thank you, both for the kind words and the recs - I'm definitely going to have to check [personal profile] aldersprig out. ;)
