So what's become of this comm with so much potential? Abandoned? Any chance of revival? And if so, what would it take?

Let's bare our bloody carcasses, shall we?

I'm all messed up with a bad case of crapola, which is commonly interpreted as writer's block, but it's not that fucking simple. Writer's block indicates a lack of direction/inspiration - not my problem. My problem is less easily defined and all the more maddening for it. Ever had something playing at the edge of so fucking good you can't deal? Yeah. Tell me about that.

No, really - tell me about that.

I definitely know what you mean. It's not writer's block because you know where you're going and what you need to write, but actually doing it is like pulling teeth, it's like stripping off the inside of your veins. I mean how can it be this hard! It's only writing! You know what you're doing, why does it physically hurt?!

"Bloody carcasses" is the perfect term for it.

Thanks for this - yes, things have been quiet while I keeled over, but thanks to those of you have been posting. Hopefully, I'll be livening things up a bit now I'm kind of back in the land of the living... and maybe even encouraging some more people to delurk!

Regarding the pulling teeth thing. Yes. There needs to be a word for this, because it's nothing like so nebulous or excuse-like as 'writer's block'. It's that thing where it just doesn't happen - whatever the 'it' you're currently wrestling with is. And it sucks. My solution is usually to either walk away, or work on something completely different that I never intend to use, thus enabling me to sneak up on the thing I actually want to do, and write it when it's least expecting it.
